Frank Wheeler

Global Head of Distribution and Marketing

Frank Wheeler is Global Head of Distribution and Marketing at Matthews International Capital Management, LLC. He has overall responsibility for the firm’s marketing, business development strategy, client services and sales efforts. Prior to joining Matthews in 2013, he served as Executive Vice President, Head of Product and Marketing with Nuveen Investments in Chicago. Previously, he was Head of Distribution for FAF Advisors/ First American Funds in Minneapolis. From 2000 to 2006, Frank held several senior roles at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers in both New York and in Tokyo, including Managing Director, Chief Marketing Officer for Asia Pacific. Earlier in his career, he held a variety of marketing and brand management roles at Morgan Stanley and Procter & Gamble. Frank earned an M.B.A. in Marketing and Finance from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and received a B.A. in Management Economics and French from Hampden-Sydney College.


Jonathan D. Schuman

Head of Global Business Development

Jonathan Schuman joined Matthews International Capital Management, LLC in 2010 as an Executive Vice President. He is responsible for leading the firm’s international business development strategy, developing relationships with key distribution partners and directing the firm’s global sales efforts. Prior to joining the firm, Jonathan was a Managing Director at PineBridge Investments (formerly AIG Investments) in Tokyo, responsible for institutional sales and client relations, product development, marketing and RFP functions for AIG’s third-party investment management business in Japan. He also served as Assistant General Counsel for Legal and Government Affairs for AIG Companies, Japan and Korea. Jonathan earned a J.D. from Harvard Law School, a M.A.L.D from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and a B.A. in Asian Studies from Williams College. He has served as Co-Chair of the Financial Services Committee at the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan, and is fluent in Japanese.


James E. Campion

Head of Asia Business Development

James Campion joined Matthews Asia in 2010 as a Senior Vice President. Based in Hong Kong, he leads the firm’s business development efforts in Asia. Most recently, James was Head of Asia Distribution for Threadneedle Portfolio Services in Hong Kong, responsible for setting up its Hong Kong office and developing the firm’s Asia distribution strategy. Prior to this, he served as Allianz Global Investor’s Head of Mutual Funds for the Asia Pacific region and was a Managing Director for New Star International. From 1998 to 2004, James also held several positions with Schroder Investment Management (Hong Kong) Limited, including Regional Head of Mutual Funds, Asia ex Japan.  


Neil Steedman

Head of U.K. Business Development

Neil Steedman is Head of U.K. Business Development at Matthews International Capital Management, LLC. He is responsible for leading the firm’s distribution and client service efforts in the U.K. and select European markets. Neil has extensive experience working with institutional and wholesale investors, including local authorities, discretionary wealth managers, family offices, private banks and global financial institutions, as well as leading platforms. Prior to joining Matthews in 2014, he was with Aberdeen Asset Management for 10 years, most recently as Head of U.K. Discretionary Sales. Neil earned a BSc in Pharmacology from the University of Aberdeen.


Mark Lidstone

Head of Global Marketing

Mark Lidstone joined Matthews International Capital Management, LLC in 2012 as a Senior Vice President responsible for the firm’s marketing activities, brand building efforts and shareholder services. Most recently, he worked with Aberdeen Asset Management in Toronto where he served as Head of Marketing for the firm’s Canadian operations. Prior to this, Mark headed Aberdeen’s marketing efforts out of Hong Kong in support of sales objectives across the institutional, retail and private bank distribution channels. He also spent over seven years at Credit Suisse Asset Management and held a variety of marketing and communications roles, leading teams out of both London and Hong Kong. Mark earned an M.B.A from Warwick Business School in the U.K and received a B.Sc. in Biology with Business Studies from the University of London.
